About Me

I live in Tucson, Arizona and take clients in Tucson, Amado, Arivaca and surrounding areas. I have attended five births as a birth doula, in both hospital and birth center settings. I am currently completing my certification through DONA International. As part of this process, I have completed a DONA-certified birth doula class and a 12-week Bradley childbirth class. I also own a TENS machine, which I am certified through DONA International to use with clients during labor.
Outside of being a doula, I work full time with toddlers at a local Montessori school, and I have over three years of experience acting as a conflict mediator and providing emotional support through a North Carolina-based community nonprofit. I believe that these skills transfer well into a birth setting and allow me to keep a cool head during any intense situations that may present themselves.
My Philosophy
I believe that birth is a beautiful event that, although extraordinary, is completely natural. I therefore believe that every woman has it within herself, both physically and emotionally, to have a good birth experience.
Because birth is often unpredictable, I believe that support and empowerment, especially through increased knowledge and planning, can play an important role in getting women to a place where they will remember their birth experience well for the rest of their lives.
I recognize that what constitutes a good birth experience will look very different from woman to woman. For one woman, it may mean forgoing all drugs and giving birth at home surrounded by family. For another woman, it may mean a hospital birth and an epidural early in labor; for another, a medically necessary C-section after a long and difficult labor. No matter what the setting or the variables, as a doula I am committed to supporting women in having their best possible birth.
